Tru Cupe Collective Agreement

The Thompson Rivers University Board of Governors (TRU) and members of CUPE Local 4879 have ratified an agreement under the government`s negotiating mandate for sustainable services. The three-year contract runs from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022 and provides for a 6% pay increase – 2% per year – over the term of the contract. The agreement between the Board of Governors of the Post-Secondary Institution and Local Cupe 4879 was ratified as part of the provincial government`s negotiating mandate for sustainable services. The Sustainable Services Negotiation Mandate supports the government`s commitment to improving the services people rely on, making life more affordable and investing in sustainable economic growth. The mandate is consistent with B.C`s commitment to balanced budgets and good financial management. There are nearly 229,000 public sector employees covered by interim or ratified agreements concluded under the mandate. The agreement applies to TRU employees who work as system analysts, accountants, cashiers, booksellers, registration and licensing salesmen, maintenance and service personnel, library technicians, auxiliary staff and open assistance staff. . The agreement also provides for the creation of a new position to assist tru employees and support mental health and well-being, as well as additional funding for wellness, innovation and training programs and resources to support service improvements.
